LSU coach Kim Mulkey has won four national championships with Baylor (three) and the Lady Tigers (one).

She provided an evidence of her coaching wisdom and mentality during an engagement in Louisiana in April 2023, weeks after guiding the LSU Lady Tigers to the national championship, beating Iowa, 102-85.

She revealed the defensive strategy to counter Iowa superstar guard Caitlin Clark. Kim Mulkey assigned guard Last-Tear Poa on Clark and told the Australian to sell the push-offs well to intimidate the prolific scorer/playmaker.

"(And Last-Tear) Poa she goes in and gets the two push-offs and on Clark, and she listened to the scouting report. I said: 'I'm gonna work the referee I said every time she does this, you better fall, you better sell it," Mulkey said (24:00).
"That was big while it didn't put Clark on the bench really what did it do it got in her head," the veteran coach added (24:16).

Kim Mulkey lauded her team for stepping up and noted that she's proud that everybody on the LSU roster peaked in the 2023 national championship game, from the starters to the bench players.
