Geno Auriemma is an American college basketball coach who became the winningest coach in NCAA history after registering his 1,217th win with the UConn Huskies. In his four-decade-long career with the program, Geno led the Huskies to 11 Championship and almost two dozen Final Four appearances. He also served as the head coach of the U.S. Women’s National Team for eight years and led the squad to 2012 and 2016 Olympic gold medals.

Auriemma has been credited with building UConn into a women’s basketball powerhouse and he is the first coach to guide a program to five successive Final Four appearances on two separate occasions. Earlier this summer, he signed a five-year contract extension until the summer of 2029. Auriemma is the most successful coach in NCAA Division I history and has been honored with Naismith College of the Year a record eight times. For the first time since 2016, the Huskies are eyeing their 12th national championship in the 2024-25 season. Auriemma will enter his 40th season at UConn and aim for the 12th NCAA championship this season.
