Gianna Kneepkens plays as a guard for the Utah Utes and is a junior in 2024. Kneepkens hails from Duluth, Minnesota, and attended Duluth Marshall High School. In the 2023-24 season, she was a Pac-12 Preseason All-Conference selection and appeared on the watchlists for the Wooden Award, Naismith Trophy, and Ann Meyers Drysdale Award. Before her season-ending injury, she played eight games, averaging 17.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.85 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. Kneepkens scored above 1,000 points in her career while making 19 points against Carroll College. She is known for scoring three-pointers as she did it for three or more games on six out of eight occasions. As a sophomore in 2022-2023, Kneepkens received WBCA Honorable Mention All-American and Pac-12 First Team All-Conference. She started all 32 games for the Cougars, scoring an average of 15.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Kneepkens led the Cougars in scoring 10 times and also had her first two career double-doubles. As a freshman in 2021-22, Gianna won the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year honors and also earned five Pac-12 Freshman of the Week awards.

Gianna Kneepkens had a remarkable high school career at Duluth Marshall High School. Kneepkens is one of 12 players in Minnesota girls' basketball history to score over 3,000 career points, finishing with 3,704, the fourth-highest total in Texas’ history. She received Prep Girls Hoops Class AA Player of the Year and News Tribune All-Area Player of the Year honors as a senior. Kneepkens was a three-time all-state and four-time all-conference nominee. In 2021, she scored 67 points in one game, the most in a state tournament, averaging 43.1 points per game. As a junior, she averaged 31.2 points, 11.5 rebounds, 5.8 steals, and 4.6 assists per game, leading her team to its first state tournament in 20 years. Kneepkens played AAU basketball for the Minnesota Fury, winning two state championships and led the team to second place in the AAU Under Armour National Championship.
