Fans were divided over a question posted by Just Women's Sports on Instagram regarding who's the best scorer in the 2024-25 women's college basketball season.

On Thursday, Just Women's Sports posted a slideshow with the question and presented four contenders with their respective statistics.

The first was Notre Dame's Hannah Hidalgo who averages 25.9 points per game and shoots 49.4%. The second was USC guard JuJu Watkins (24.9 ppg, 44.4%), and next was Ta'niya Latson of Florida State (27.9 ppg, 51.1%). The fourth was Iowa State's Audi Crooks (23.0 ppg, 60.4%).

Fans aired their arguments on who's the best scorer among the four, and they had different answers.

One user gave it to the Notre Dame star for playing phenomenally on both ends of the floor.

"Gotta give it to Hannah. They’re all good ball players, but what she has up on everyone is playing phenomenal on BOTH ends of the floor. Not just Putin the ball in the hoop. Just my opinion," a fan wrote.
"This season it’s Hannah. She is leading so many categories. Hoping she can get Olivia a natty before she goes to the W," another fan added.
"Hannah better than her period all around better she like Allen iverson wit defense," a user opined.

Other college basketball enthusiasts sided with the USC guard who has helped the Trojans climb to the top of the Big Ten standings this season.

Other fans are on Ta'Niya Latson's side although one college hoops enthusiast pointed out that Hannah Hidalgo has delivered more wins than the Florida State scoring machine.

"TL really get to it don’t sleep on her she been handing out 30 pieces 🤣," a fan said.
"In general, Latson, but over all it’s Hannah because she’s doing this against tougher competition and leading her teams to wins over high ranked teams," one fan noted.

Some fans, meanwhile, were looking for other players, including Iowa State's Audi Crooks, UConn's Paige Bueckers, Rutgers' Kiyomi McMiller, South Carolina's MiLaysia Fulwiley and LSU's Flau'Jae Johnson.

"Where’s Paige Buckets? 😂," one fan asked.
"Mcmiller, Paige, and fullwiley needa be on this list," another fan posted.
"Azzi Fudd," another user declared.

Other fans went neutral, with some saying all are awesome players and have been great this season.

Ta'Niya Latson leads points per game stats; Hannah Hidalgo, JuJu Watkins close behind

Although there has been an ongoing debate on who's the best scorer in the nation, stats from NCAA.com (as of Jan. 9) show Ta'Niya Latson is the current leader in scoring average at 27.9 ppg. She's followed closely by Hannah Hidalgo (25.9 ppg) and JuJu Watkins (24.9 ppg).

Arkansas' Izzy Higginbottom is fourth on the list at 23.8 ppg, and Audi Crooks is ranked fifth at 23.0 ppg.

A lot of things can still happen in the remainder of the season, especially during conference play. A drop in performance by one player at the top of the list, coupled with a big game by another could change the roster of top scorers in one game.

We should keep an eye on this statistic because it will be close until the final game as anyone of these players is bound for an explosive night.
