Grant Nelson, born March 18, 2002, is an American basketball athlete who has returned to Alabama Crimson Tide for his final season of collegiate basketball. The staggering 6ft 11inch power forward began his collegiate journey with his home side North Dakota State Bison where he spent three seasons before transferring to Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2023 season. Nelson scored 1,043 career points and grabbed 520 rebounds for the Bison during his three-year stint. Last season, Nelson became the 21st in Alabama’s history to score 500 points in a single season.
He was rated as a four-star recruit out of Devils Lake High School where he holds the record for blocks in a season. During his senior year, he was named 2020 North Dakota’s Mr. Basketball as he averaged 25 points, 18 rebounds, and 5.7 blocks per game. Nelson was an immediate starter following his arrival to Tuscaloosa in 2023 and used his final season of eligibility to return to the program in 2024.
