Carmelo Anthony's son Kiyan Anthony expressed his love for his mother La La by getting a portrait of her inked. In late July, Kiyan unveiled the new tattoo on his Instagram story showing the detailed artwork of his mom's face with a note.
Episode two of the second season of Kiyan's "Evolu7ion" released on Friday shows behind the scenes of Anthony getting the tattoo. The 6-foot-5 guard went to a renowned tattoo artist Steve Wiebe to get a permanent tribute to his mother.
"He's only 17. He's a baby," La La said to Steve before Kiyan got the tattoo, showing her concern. [Time Stamp - 4:50]
The tattoo covered almost Anthony's entire left forearm. It apparently took hours to finish, and he even dozed off during the process. After it was finished, La La came to see it and was touched by the gesture.
"I think it’s crazy that he got my face tattooed on him. I’m blown away. I’m touched. I’m honored. He wrote me the nicest note and I’m very kind of emotional about it," La La said.
Kiyan Anthony said he picked his tattoo to honor his mother, wanting people to know how important she is to him.
"Dear Mom, you continuously put me before yourself. You are my life. I thank god for you every day," the note on his tattoo reads.
Kiyan Anthony provides an update on his recruitment process
Kiyan Anthony, the No. 1 player in New York, will enter his final year of high school this coming season. His current shortlist of schools includes Auburn, USC, Syracuse, Florida State, Rutgers and Ohio State.
The four star shooting guard is approaching the end of his recruitment process with only two schools left to visit on his schedule. He will make trips to USC and Rutgers on Oct. 4 and will likely take second visits to Syracuse, Ohio State, and Auburn before making a final decision.
"I'm almost done. I'm about to take these last visits, then I'm going to commit," Kiyan gave an update to 247Sports about his recruitment. "I'm looking to commit before the high school season, so last week of October or first week of November."
"As far as my family, they want me to go somewhere that fits me. Obviously, I'm going away from my family. So, they want me to go somewhere where they know I'm good and is a family oriented school with not too much going on."
According to On3, Kiyan Anthony has a high chance of committing to his father's alma mater Syracuse. Rutgers and Florida State are the other schools in strong contention to land him.
