The 2024 NBA draft is just four days away as the league prepares to welcome its next generation of stars. Despite uncertainty brimming with this year's draft class, point guards like Reed Sheppard, Bronny James and Rob Dillingham are dominating draft conversations these days.

Here's a look at the potential point guards projected to go in the first round of the draft.

Point guard prospects in the first round of 2024 NBA draft

1: Reed Sheppard, Kentucky Wildcats

One of the highest-ranked point guards in most mock drafts, Reed Sheppard spent just one season with the Kentucky Wildcats. Considered the best shooter in the class, he averaged 12.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 0.7 blocks and 2.5 steals while shooting 53.6% from the floor, 52.1 from the three-point range and 83.1% from the free throw line.

Sheppard is projected as a No. 4 pick by ESPN, No. 3 by The Athletic at No. 3 and No. 2 by CBS Sports.

2: Stephon Castle, UConn Huskies

In his freshman season at UConn, Stephon Castle averaged 11.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists. While he shot 47.2% from the floor, the guard only made 26.7% of his attempts from the three-point range. This was a concern for many scouts but Castle dismissed these doubts by performing exceptionally well at the NBA draft combine in May.

Stephon Castle is projected to go at No. 6 by ESPN while CBS Sports puts him at No.3.

3: Rob Dillingham, Kentucky Wildcats

Another freshman prospect from Kentucky, Rob Dillingham, had decent averages of 15.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists while shooting 47.5% from the floor and 44.4% from beyond the arc. However, his draft prospects took a hit after the NBA draft combine in Chicago due to his size (6-foot-1 and 168 pounds).

This has affected his ranking and he has now gone from top 5 to No. 8 in ESPN's mock draft. The Athletic projects him at No. 9 while Bleacher Report puts him at No. 11. CBS Sports' Gary Parrish projects Dillingham at No. 13.

4: Devin Carter, Providence Friars

After a relatively unimpressive first two seasons, Devin Carter had career-high averages in his junior year as he finished with 19.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.8 steals. He further cemented his spot in the first round with his performances at the draft combine.

Carter is a projected No. 11 pick according to ESPN and a No. 8 pick in Bleacher Report's mock draft. Most predictions place him within the top 15.

5: Jared McCain, Duke Blue Devils

Despite being undersized and not highly athletic, Jared McCain ranks at No. 13 on ESPN's mock draft because of his elite shooting skills and basketball IQ. He is No. 14 on The Athletic's mock draft.

In his freshman year at Duke, McCain averaged 14.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists while shooting 46.2% from the floor and 41.4% from beyond the arc.

6: Carlton Carrington, Pittsburgh Panthers

The Pittsburgh Panthers freshman averaged 13.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists while shooting 41.2% from the floor and 32.2% from the three-point range. Carlton Carrington is a projected top-20 pick in most drafts.

His biggest draws are his size and midrange shooting skills. At 18, Carrington is still a growing player.

7: Isaiah Collier, USC Trojans

Predicted to go between No. 20 to 25 by most mock drafts, Isaiah Collier enjoyed a productive freshman season despite a disappointing year for the Trojans. In an average of 29.8 minutes of game time, Collier had 16.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.5 steals. He shot 49.0% from the field and 33.8% from deep.

Collier's draft stock fell slightly due to an underwhelming performance at the NBA draft combine in Chicago.

8: Tyler Kolek, Marquette Golden Eagles

Tyler Kolek enjoyed his best college season last year, averaging 15.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 7.7 assists while shooting 49.6% from the floor and 38.8% from the three-point range.

Kolek is predicted to go at No. 22 by CBS Sports, No. 25 by ESPN and Bleacher Report, and at No. 24 by The Athletic.
