LSU guard Flau'jae Johnson had an impressive career in Sprayberry High School in Marietta, Georgia, before she was recruited by Tigers coach Kim Mulkey.
According to the LSU website, the five-foot-10 guard scored a school-record 1,615 points during her high school career and was named in the Naismith All-America team. During her senior year, Johnson recorded amazing stats, including a 40-point and 14-rebound double-double, a game where she scored 47 points and another outing where she knocked down 12 3-pointers.
The former national champion was adjudged the Most Valuable Player in the Jordan Brand Classic, racking up 27 points. She took part in the McDonald's All-American Game and was the first woman to play in the Iverson Classic. She was also chosen as the Georgia Region 6-6A Player of the Year with her skills and talents in the court.
During that time, the daughter of the late rapper Camouflage was the No. 6 guard (and No. 26 overall) in the country, as per ESPN Hoopgurlz. Johnson's ability on both ends of the court impressed Mulkey, who didn't pass on the opportunity and picked the young guard in her first LSU recruiting class in 2022.
Flau'jae Johnson NIL valuation surges to $1.3 million
Flau'jae Johnson's efforts in the entertainment and basketball scenes raised her NIL value to $1.3 million from $1.1 million, as per On3.com. Last month, she signed a deal with JBL Audio to raise her value and inch closer to UConn guard Paige Bueckers, who owns the top spot in the NIL college women's basketball rankings, at $1.4 million.
Johnson has existing deals with Apple Cash, Bazooka, MVP Miami and Mercedes=Benz of Baton Rouge to name a few. She's ranked No. 17 in the overall NIL rankings, ahead of twins Hailey ($889,000) and Hanna Cavinder ($863,000).
The shooting guard will be one of the top players for LSU in the coming season, following the departure of Angel Reese to the WNBA. Last season, Johnson started 34 games for the Tigers and averaged 14.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.0 blocks per game.
LSU will still be one of the teams to watch out for in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. That's despite the expansion of the SEC that welcomed women's basketball power Texas into the group and the continued domination of defending champion South Carolina.
