The South Carolina women's basketball program has come out with a docuseries focusing on the 2023-24 season, ‘Love the Game’.
It would give the fans a sneak peek into the inner workings of Dawn Staley's team that won the national championship title back in April. The series is out and available for the fans to watch and here are some details about it.
How to watch South Carolina’s ‘Love the Game’ docuseries?
The ‘Love the Game’ docuseries has already been released by the Gamecocks program and is available to watch on their official channel on X and YouTube. South Carolina officially announced the release on Wednesday through a post on X.
"In a season when no one was sure what South Carolina had, the Gamecocks knew they had all they needed – LOVE,” the message on the team’s official account read.
The series features all the big names for the Gamecocks, including Coach Staley, and stars like Kamilla Cardoso, Ashlyn Watkins, and Te-Hina Paopao. Starting from the team’s season opener in Paris, it takes the fans on a journey focusing on the team’s season and the theme of love.
Love the Game: Episode details
The docuseries has six episodes, all of which were released on Thursday, June 6 throughout the day. Every part has a distinct name, focusing on the love for every part of their journey to the title. Here is a list of all the episodes:
Episode 1: Love the Process
Episode 2: Love the Grind
Episode 3: Love the Challenge
Episode 4: Love the Sacrifice
Episode 5: Love the Madness
Episode 6: Nothing beats Love
It was a historic season for the Gamecocks with the team going unbeaten for the entire season. They met the Iowa Hawkeyes featuring Caitlin Clark in the national championship game, a team that had beaten them in the Final Four in the previous year. So winning against them was extra special as they also took revenge for that defeat.
Love the Game: The theme of love
Head coach Dawn Staley has been giving her team a theme for the season since the 2012-13 edition. For 2023-24, she finalized the theme of love in September last year. The team used this throughout the season, especially the phrase ‘Nothing beats love’ in the NCAA March Madness tournament. In the end, nothing could beat it.
"Staley often notes that 'if you love the game, it will love you back' – and her career as a player and now a coach is evidence of that," a Gamecocks statement said at the start of the season.
Every episode of the docuseries pays homage to the same notion in around 10 minutes of run time. The longest episode is number 3 which runs for 13 minutes 26 seconds. So dig in and get a view of how South Carolina conquered everything, with love.
