Carmelo Anthony's son, Kiyan Anthony, shared his experiences from a recent family trip to Japan in the latest episode of "The Evolution: Kiyan Anthony Season 2.0" posted on Saturday.
Kiyan and his family shopped for designer clothes and traveled around Japan. The 6-foot-5 four-star recruit said he felt safe during the trip and found the Japanese people to be friendly despite the language barrier.
"I just feel so safe like nothing is going to (hurt you). I just feel harmless like I could walk past anybody. Everybody's so nice even though they don't speak English," Kiyan Anthony said. (10:47)
The No. 34-ranked high school prospect in the Class of 2025 bought high-end items like clothes and sunglasses and learned some Japanese words, including "arigato" (thank you) and "konnichiwa" (hello or good day).
In one scene, he confused the greeting "konnichiwa" with "goodbye" (which is actually "sayonara"), but he carried on with his trip, stopping to shop at two more stores.
Kiyan Anthony to announce choice school on Nov. 15, says recruiting analyst
Kiyan Anthony will make his final decision on which school — USC, Syracuse or Auburn — will be his college choice on Nov. 15, a recruiting analyst posted on X (formerly Twitter).
The Long Island Lutheran senior guard recently visited USC (Sept. 26) and Syracuse (Oct. 19) before his upcoming decision. He also received an in-home visit from Syracuse on Sept. 4, according to 247 Sports.
The son of NBA star and Syracuse legend Carmelo Anthony also released an evaluation on his final three school choices. He told 247 Sports that Syracuse has shown its dedication to recruiting him since he reached his senior year.
Kiyan Anthony noted that he felt the Orange is building a strong team that would contend in the NCAA Tournament next year and he sensed that they wanted him to be a part of that roster.
Regarding his USC visit, Anthony said that the coaching staff was well-prepared to welcome him, with his stats and summer activities thoroughly reviewed in their meeting. He also hailed new Trojans coach Eric Musselman for guiding his players to the NBA level.
Kiyan Anthony also noted that Auburn had expressed consistent interest in him since the Peach Jam and maintained steady communication.
His friends playing at Auburn (Jakai Howard and Tahaad Pettiford) spoke highly of the basketball program. He was also hot on Bruce Pearl's ability to guide a winning team that would progress in the NCAA Tournament.
