NBA great Carmelo Anthony's son, Kiyan Anthony, plays for his Team Melo in AAU circuits. The Long Island Lutheran shooting guard was one of the best players in this year's Nike EYBL Peach Jam, averaging 21.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
In the new episode of season two of Overtime's "The Evolu7ion," the 6-foot-5 guard out of Middle Village, New York, spoke about his skills and his progress in developing as a player.
"I'm one of the best players in my class. I think a lot of people are starting to realize that I am. I'm really just getting better, faster," Anthony said during this year's Nike Nationals. "I'm excited coming out party last year at AAU just trying to leave a mark." [Time Stamp - 7:56]
In this year's Peach Jam, the 17-year-old further developed his skills. His performance received high praise with ESPN ranking him as the No. 1 recruit in New York.
In an episode from season one of "The Evolu7ion," Kiyan shared a similar sentiment while discussing his key strengths.
"My jump shot is really strong point of my game. I feel like I'm one of the best shooters in EYBL," Anthony said. "I feel like I grew with the close moments. I developed and I felt confident enough to take the last shot even if it didn't go in. I feel like I'm the best person to take the last shot, all we gotta do now is close out the game." Kiyan Anthony shares details of his summer training regimen
Kiyan Anthony, a four-star prospect, was involved in rigorous practice sessions over the summer to prepare for the upcoming basketball season. He mostly trains with Team Melo under the guidance of his dad, Carmelo Anthony.
During an appearance on the "SloaneKnows: NEXT" show, Kiyan discussed the workout routine he stuck to over the summer.
"Summer workouts definitely two times a day in the gym, whether it's lifting weights or on a basketball court," Anthony said. "I don't really wake up that early. I still wake up at like 10 or 11, go to the gym, might rest for a little bit, play the game and then back to the gym in the night time, so that's like my little summer.
"During the school year, just school and then practice. You might lift and then do the same thing every day." [TS - 16:30]
Kiyan is almost done with his recruitment. He has two schools left to visit -- USC and Rutgers -- before making a final choice. The high schooler has said he would commit to a program ahead of the upcoming basketball season.
