Kiyan Anthony is known to be aggressive on the court, leading his high school team, Long Island Lutheran, and AAU team, Carmelo Anthony's Team Melo, to victories. The guard does not shy away from trash talk but at the same time is able to take a step back to realize his mistake.

In Episode 5 of his Overtime documentary "Evolution," from August 2023, Kiyan Anthony spoke of the moment he may have overstepped during an AAU game.

"That's my bad, that's my bad," Anthony said to the referee (8:16).

Later, commenting on the situation, he said:

"I don't want to be a bad guy, you know. So once I got the tech, I realized like yeah, I was talking crazy. That's my fault."

As the son of an NBA legend, Kiyan Anthony's path to his playing career is not easy as opponents try to bring him down mentally. In an episode of his podcast, "7PM In Brooklyn," from April, Carmelo Anthony said:

"He going to have to deal with it totally different than me. He going to have to deal with it, deal with it. I had to deal with other type of s**t, he going to have to deal with it, deal with it. So I gotta just show him by an example. I got to put him in those environments.
"I got to see him in those environments to understand how he's going to react in certain environments. What you going to do when somebody say 'f**k you' and say this about me and say this about your mom and say XYZ? How you going to react to that in the middle of you got to go get a bucket or you got to get a stop. Like how?"

Kiyan Anthony is ready for his transition to college

After months of speculation, Kiyan Anthony revealed his final college decision in November. The guard will follow his father to play for the Syracuse Orange. The other schools in contention were USC, Auburn, Rutgers and Ohio State.

The Orange last won the national championship in 2003, with Carmelo Anthony leading the team. The school honored him by naming the practice facility after Anthony. Now, Kiyan Anthony will use the same facility to help Syracuse on another championship run.
