La La Anthony, the mother of four-star high school prospect Kiyan Anthony, enjoys a warm and healthy relationship with her son, but there are still boundaries that Kiyan respects as a son.
The TV personality and ex-wife of Syracuse Orange legend and NBA star Carmelo Anthony shared the mother-son bond with singer-actress Keke Palmer in the latest episode of the "Baby, this is Keke Palmer" podcast.
La La Anthony describes herself as a cool mother and a best friend but she still checks on Kiyan's well-being and disciplines him whenever he commits a mistake.
"I think I'm a cool mom, but he also knows I'm his mom. I'm cool but we're not playing those games. Yes you're my best friend and I love that we have that but I will check you in a second and don't play with me," La La Anthony said.
La La feels that being with Kiyan since he was born accentuates the bond as a family. He knows that her mother is always there in every moment, whether good or bad.
"It's finding that balance because we're so close. He is my only child. There's a different bond. It's been him and I through this journey and he's been with me through his ups and downs like he's been there through it all," she said.
La La Anthony is proud of seeing Kiyan grow up as a well-mannered young man
La La Anthony told Keke Palmer that she loves watching her son grow as a good basketball player and a well-mannered teenager. She describes it as the greatest joy for a mother.
"I just love having a son and the time goes so fast you look up and now he's 17 years old already. You know just living his life and I love to see the young man he's become. That's like the greatest joy as a mom," she said.
The multimedia star also pointed out that bringing up her son to be a humble, kind and well-mannered human being is more important than any other achievement.
Recently, La La Anthony has tied up with medicine company Amgen in a campaign that encourages open dialogue with a doctor about unmanaged symptoms and finding the right treatment option for the person who is sick.
Anthony, who has been diagnosed with plaque psoriasis, recently teamed up with Amgen in sharing her journey in a way to inspire people to be open with their doctors about how diseases affect their daily lives.
The actress/host was part of a new interactive video released two weeks ago to share her experience to help others find the right treatment options for their medical conditions.
