The Indiana University Bloomington's men's basketball team is known as the Indiana Hoosiers. The Hoosiers have won 22 Big Ten Conference Championships, which is the second most in conference history; only behind Purdue's 25 championships. The Indiana men's basketball team first started playing in the 1900-01 season and has since become one of the most successful programs in collegiate basketball.

Indiana has achieved a total of five NCAA Championships in men's basketball, as of December 2024. The Hoosiers claimed the title in 1940, 1953, 1976, 1981, and 1987. Branch McCracken, as head coach, played a pivotal role in winning two NCAA championships in 1940 and 1953. Under head coach Bob Knight, Indiana secured three NCAA championships in 1976, 1981, and 1987.

Mike Woodson has been the head coach of the Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball team since 2021. In his first year as head coach, Woodson led the 2021-22 team to a 21-14 record. Under his leadership, the Hoosiers broke nine-game losing streaks against Purdue and Michigan and advanced to the semifinals of the 2022 Big Ten men's basketball tournament, their first appearance since 2013.

Prior to joining the Indiana Hoosiers in 2021, Woodson served as the assistant coach at the New York Knicks from 2020 to 2021. He also had a previous tenure as the head coach for the New York Knicks team from 2012 to 2014. Aside from his coaching career, Mike Woodson is a former professional basketball player. He started his playing career in 1980 and played until 1991.

Associate Head Coach

Kenya Hunter and Yasir Rosemond are members of the coaching staff for the Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball team. Yasir Rosemond, the associate head coach, brings over 15 years of experience as a collegiate coach and joined the Hoosiers in April 2021 as an assistant coach. Prior to his time at Indiana, Rosemond spent two seasons at Alabama as a member of Avery Johnson's staff.

Kenya Hunter, on the other hand, is also an associate head coach at Indiana University. He began his Division I coaching career at Duquesne, his alma mater, where he served as a full-time assistant for two seasons from 1998 to 2000.

Hunter also has a background in basketball, having also played the sport himself. As a player, Yasir Rosemond was a guard at Douglass High School in Atlanta.

Assistant Coach

Brian Walsh is the Assistant Coach of the Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball team. He joined Indiana University in 2017. Walsh served as the Team and Recruiting Coordinator, contributing to the Hoosiers' recruitment efforts and helping secure the 10th best recruiting class in the country in the 2021-22 season, according to 247Sports.com.

Before becoming the Assistant Coach, Walsh served as the Hoosiers' Director of Basketball Operations for four years. In this role, he was responsible for managing the logistical aspects of the team, ensuring smooth operations, and supporting the coaching staff and players.
