The Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball program plays in the Big Ten conference. The program has made it to three Final Fours and is yet to win its first women's basketball championship.
Iowa has been routinely placed in the top 15 in the country for attendance volume and came close to winning their first national title in 2023 but eventually lost the title game 102-85 to LSU. The team has made it to the NCAA Tournament 30 times in the program's history and have been one of the steadiest programs in collegiate basketball.
Iowa Women’s Basketball Head Coach 2024
Jan Jensen has begun her first season as head coach of the Hawkeyes women’s basketball program in the 2024/25 season. She served the last 24 years on Lisa Bluder’s coaching staff as an associate head coach. During the 2023/24 season, Jensen was honoured with the WBCA Assistant Coach of the Year.
Furthermore, Jensen led Iowa to back-to-back national title games in 2023 and 2024. Following Bluder’s sudden announcement in 2024, Jensen was named the new head coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Iowa Women's Basketball Assistant Coaches
Randi Henderson, Sean Sullivan, Raina Harmon and Abby Stamp are the four assistant coaches of the Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball program. Henderson came back to the Iowa program in 2024 after spending the last seven years at Washington University as a head coach. She also worked at Coe College, the University of Minnesota-Morris and Charlotte.
Sean Sullivan was named Iowa women’s new basketball coach in the summer of 2024. He was a part of the women’s basketball staff at Penn State, Pittsburgh, and North Carolina. Sullivan was the director of player personnel, development, and recruiting operations at North Carolina before being promoted to assistant during the 2023/24 season.
Raina Harmon has entered her eighth season with the Iowa women’s basketball program whereas Abby Stamp is in her 16th year with the Hawkeyes program.
