The No. 9-ranked Duke Blue Devils are on the heels of a huge win against the No. 2-ranked Auburn Tigers last Wednesday, Dec. 4, with Isaiah Evans playing a huge part. The freshman sank six 3-pointers as he and fellow first-year player Cooper Flagg led the Blue Devils to victory.

During a postgame interview with college basketball podcast The Field Of 68: After Dark, the 19-year-old Evans shared what it's like playing alongside Flagg, who doesn't show much emotion.

"It's a lot on his shoulders at the end of the day. He has to stay laser-focused. That's his game. I'm gonna get rowdy. I'm gonna get the crowd into it. I'm gonna hype myself up. He's a guy like he's a straight line; get a stop, get a bucket, and do it all over again," Evans shared on their opposite mindsets. (6:55)

The first-year sharpshooter did claim that he enjoys playing with the college sensation and it doesn't matter to him who takes the spotlight.

"I love playing with him. I love seeing him do his thing; attacking them, playing hard. It's just great seeing it," Evans expressed. (7:13)

Both rookies led the Blue Devils to the win utilizing their own strengths. Isaiah Evans' six 3-pointers resulted in him finishing with 18 points and a rebound in just 16 minutes of play. Meanwhile, Flagg paced the squad with a game-high 22 markers, 11 boards, four assists, three steals, and two blocks while sitting out for only 2 minutes of the fixture.

As Evans and Flagg continue to develop their chemistry further together and overall with the team, their next assignment, the 5-3 Louisville, should provide a suitable test for them on Dec. 8 at the KFC Yum! Center.

Isaiah Evans shares how he stays mentally prepared for big moments

As the Duke faithful has been pleading with head coach Jon Scheyer to give Isaiah Evans more minutes, the 19-year-old guard is always locked in despite not getting much-needed playing time. During the interview, he shared how he instills that always-ready mindset, saying:

"You just do it. I came here from a difficult time. I came in here to put myself in an uncomfortable postion to get better and to learn. But, most of all, I'mma always stay ready because I'm a basketball player. That's my job." (5:30)
"If I'm ever not ready, that's a problem. Tonight, it just paid off," Evans asserted. (5:50)

With his efficiency to score 18 points in just 16 minutes in their last win, the trajectory of Isaiah Evans gaining more playing time from Scheyer may just be on its way up—much to the delight of the fans.
