Jalen Lashaun Bridges is a professional basketball forward for the Phoenix Suns in the NBA and the Valley Suns of the NBA G League under a two-way deal. He was formerly a collegiate basketball player for the Baylor Bears and the West Virginia Mountaineers. Bridges represented Fairmont Senior High School in Fairmont, West Virginia, as a basketball player. In his first two years, he assisted his team in winning consecutive Class AA state championships. He was named West Virginia's best high school athlete and received the Bill Evans Award. He averaged 16.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.2 blocks, and 1.9 steals per game while playing for the Polar Bears. The West Virginia Sports Writers Association named him captain of the Class AA Boys All-State Basketball First Team, as per West Virginia's official website.

Bridges averaged 5.9 points and 3.6 rebounds and was selected to the 2021 Big 12 All-Freshman team with the West Virginia Mountaineers. He shot 40.9 percent from three-point range and 46.9 percent from the field at the end of the season. Bridges was the only Mountaineers player to start all 33 games. He finished fourth on the squad in terms of points per game (8.4) and second in terms of rebounds per game (4.6). Bridges played 61 games and made 52 starts for West Virginia over the two seasons. During his two-year stint with the Baylor Bears, Bridges recorded 775 points, 85 assists, 55 blocks and 67 steals, as per ESPN.
