Lisa Bluder, former Iowa head coach, passed the torch to Jan Jensen upon her retirement on May 13. Since her appointment, Jensen has been very busy navigating off-season transfers.

In addition to player recruitment, she announced the addition of both Randi Henderson and Sean Sullivan to the team as assistant coaches. She made the back-to-back announcements on her Instagram story.

"Help me welcome our new assistant. ... Coach Randi Henderson," wrote Jensen in the first story.

Henderson was the head coach of the Washington University women's basketball team in St. Louis. She has been there since 2017 and has recorded double-digit wins every year, leading them to four NCAA tournaments. Prior to her coaching career, she played for the Hawkeyes as a starter for three years and served as their captain.

Meanwhile, Sullivan was the director of player personnel, development and recruiting operations in North Carolina for two seasons. He was appointed as their assistant coach in 2023. His Iowa roots trace back to working as the undergraduate women's basketball manager.

While Caitlin Clark led the Iowa Hawkeyes for the past few seasons under Lisa Bluder, Jensen will not have that luxury as Clark is now in the WNBA. Along with Clark, Kate Martin—another key player—was also drafted.

Things haven't been great as Gabby Marshall and Molly Davis exhausted their college eligibility, while Ava Adams announced her medical retirement. However, Jensen has secured the services of former Villanova guard Lucy Olsen to fill the void left by Clark.

Olsen averaged 23.3 ppg, 4.8 rpg, and 3.8 apg in the 2023-24 season while shooting 43.8% from the court. She may have big shoes to fill, but Olsen is expected to do wonders for Jensen in her first season as the head coach.
