
Janiah Barker is an American forward who has entered her first year with the UCLA Bruins in the 2024-25 season. She started playing basketball at Tampa Bay Technical High School and transferred to Montverde Academy during her senior year. Barker led Tampa Bay to a state title in her freshman year. In 2022, she led Montverde to the GEICO High School National Championship and recorded eight points and 12 rebounds in the championship game. She also won gold medals with the United States U-16 team in 2019 and the senior team in 2021. Barker also participated in the Jordan Brand Classic and McDonald’s All-American game. Following her prep career, Barker was rated a five-star recruit and she began her collegiate journey with the Texas A&M Aggies.
Barker became the highest-rated recruit in the program’s history, Janiah Barker played two seasons with the program before transferring to UCLA for her junior year. As per Sports Reference, Barker averaged 12.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per contest in her sophomore year. In 2024-25, she averaged 8.0 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists but started in only two out of 23 games for the Bruins (via ESPN).
