Jeremy Fears Jr. plays collegiate basketball for the Michigan State Spartans of the Big Ten Conference. Fears Jr. plays as a guard and is in his freshman year, as of March 2025. Fears Jr. played in 12 games before being injured before Christmas and missed the rest of the season, according to the Michigan State Spartans' official website.

He was ranked as the top recruit in Illinois by 247 Sports and On3 Sports, ranked No. 2 by ESPN, and ranked No. 27 in the ESPN100. On3 has Fears Jr. ranked No. 41, Rivals No. 38, and 247 Sports No. 32. He earned an honorable mention Naismith High School All-American selection and was chosen to participate in the 2023 McDonald's All-American game. Fears Jr. won the MaxPreps Illinois High School Basketball Player of the Year award while attending Joliet West High School. Fears Jr. represented USA Basketball with the U17 squad that took home the gold at the 2022 FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup. He has played for USA Basketball at several different age groups, including the 2021 FIBA American U16 Championship in Mexico. He also played for the U16 National Team, which finished 6-0, clinching gold. Fears Jr. was chosen at the Pangos All-American camp as a Most Valuable Player.
