JJ Quinerly is a guard for the West Virginia Mountaineers in the Big 12, as of January 2025. Quinerly began her basketball prep career at Lake Taylor High School. At Lake Taylor High, she played for coach Saundra Sawyer, and at Boo Williams EYBL, she played for coach Boo Williams. During her time at LTHS, JJ Quinerly averaged 17.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, 9.0 assists, and 5.0 steals per game. According to the All-Star Girls Report, she was ranked 42nd in the country, and the Collegiate Girls Basketball Report ranked her 54th. She averaged a double-double for the Titans in her sophomore season, scoring 20.3 points and dishing out 10.0 assists per contest. In 2019, she was selected to the USA Today Virginia All-State second team and won the VHSCA 4A Player of the Year award. In the 2018–29 season, she guided Lake Taylor to a VHSL 4A State Championship.

JJ Quinerly started the final 12 games of the season and participated in all 30 games as a freshman. She averaged 2.3 steals, 2.7 assists, 8.8 points, and 2.5 rebounds per game. JJ Quinerly participated in and started all 31 games as a sophomore. She led the squad with an average of 14.5 points per game and scored a career-high 448 points. In her career, she scored 10 points or more in 34 games, including 24 of 31 in 2022–2023. As a junior, JJ Quinerly was a member of the 2024 Big 12 First Team and 2024 Big 12 Defensive Team. She participated in and started each of the 33 games. With a career-high 652 points which was the seventh most in a season, she led the club in points per game with an average of 19.8, the fifth most in a season.
