She was notable for scoring 32 points and helping her team gain an upset victory against the Ohio State Buckeyes on November 6, 2023. With this, she broke the record of Lisa Leslie from 1990 and established the team record for most points scored by a freshman in her debut.

She followed this up with her first double double with 31 points and 12 rebounds in a victory against the Penn State Nittany Lions with a score of 71-70 on November 22, 2024. She scored three straight 30 points during her games and tied with Cheryl Miller for the longest record streak in the history of the team.

After the 2023/24 season JuJu Watkins became a member of Pac-12 All Freshman Team, Pac-12 All-Defensive Team-media, All-Pac12 Team and First Team All-American-AP, USBWA in 2024. She was also declared as the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and USBWA National Freshman of the Year in 2024.

Watkins was also declared as SportsKid of the Year by Sports Illustrated Kids in 2020. She also played as a sophomore in her former school.

JuJu Watkins transferred to Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, California, United States and played varsity girl’s basketball for the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers in her junior and senior seasons. In her junior year, she guided her team to the Open Division State Championship with a win-loss record of 30-2.

Consequently, she was declared as California Gatorade Player of the Year and Ms. Basketball. As a senior, JuJu Watkins scored 27.3 points, 13.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. After her senior season, she was declared as Gatorade National Player of the Year and Naismith Prep Player of the Year.
