Kailyn Gilbert is a guard for the LSU Tigers basketball team and plays as a junior in the 2024-2025 season. Gilbert played two seasons for the Arizona Wildcats before transferring to LSU in 2024. As a freshman during the 2022-23 season, she was the only player to appear in all 32 games for the Wildcats, averaging 4.9 points in 10.6 minutes per game. Gilbert was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week on November 28, 2022, and registered 25 points in nine of 13 field goal attempts, including four three-pointers, against California Baptist. She also added nine points in the Pac-12 Tournament against UCLA.
During her 2023-2024 sophomore season, Gilbert averaged 15.1 points per game and was ranked as the seventh player in the Pac-12 with the most points scored. Gilbert started in 19 of the 23 games and was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week on December 18, 2023. She scored a career-high 26 points against Texas and a double-double against Northern Arizona.
