Bill Self has been the head men's basketball coach for the Kansas Jayhawks since 2003. He is credited with the Jayhawks' 18 Big 12 regular season titles in his two decades as head coach, including an NCAA-record 14 straight titles.
Together with three NCAA Final Four appearances (2008, 2012, and 2022), Self led the Jayhawks to two NCAA titles (2008 and 2022). His induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame took place in 2017. The second most successful coach, after Phog Allen, in the Jayhawks' history, Self finished the 2021–22 season with the 18th most wins among Division I coaches in the NCAA. Notably, he has never lost more than three consecutive games.
Self-earned $10.1 million in 2021–22, making him the best-paid NCAA basketball coach of that year. In 2021, he committed to a lifetime contract renewal with the Jayhawks, and as of 2024, his annual salary is $13 million.

As of 20 seasons, Kurtis Townsend is the Kansas men's basketball team's longest-serving assistant coach. He joined the staff in the summer of 2004. Townsend joined the KU team when he moved to Lawrence, and since then, the team has participated in seven NCAA Tournament Elite Eights, nine NCAA Sweet 16s, three NCAA Tournament Championship games, and three Final Fours.
Norm Roberts, who returned to Bill Self's staff in June 2012, is about to begin his 13th season at Kansas. The Jayhawks have advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 five times, the Elite Eight four times, and the Final Four once, which coincided with the 2022 NCAA National Championship victory, during his tenure at Kansas. They have also won seven Big 12 regular-season titles and three Big 12 tournament titles.
After returning to KU as video coordinator in August 2016, Jeremy Case was promoted to assistant coach in August 2021.
