Kate Koval plays as a forward for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and is a freshman in the 2024-2025 season. She hails from Kyiv, Ukraine, and attended Long Island Lutheran High School. She moved to the United States in 2021 to begin her collegiate basketball career. ESPN HoopGurlz ranked Koval as the No. 5 overall recruit and the No. 1 post player in the 2024 class. She scored 18 points with seven rebounds and five blocks in her collegiate debut against Mercyhurst. Kate made multiple double-doubles throughout her freshman season, including 14 points and 16 rebounds against James Madison. Her seven blocks against Lafayette made her the first woman in Notre Dame’s history to achieve such statistics since 2017.
