Kenny Brooks is an American college basketball coach who was announced as the new head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats women’s basketball team in 2024. His coaching career started at Virginia Military Institute as an assistant coach and spent four years at Lexington. Then he moved to his alma mater in 1998 where he served as a men’s assistant from 1998-2002. Brooks also spent one season with the James Madison women’s basketball program before embarking on his head coaching journey in 2003.

For the next 14 seasons, Brooks took the program to newer heights and became the winningest coach in the school’s history. He posted a 337-122 while guiding the Dukes to 11 consecutive postseason appearances. His contribution to James Madison led him to four CAA Coach of the Year honors. In 2016, he decided to move to Virginia Tech where he led the program to an ACC regular season title in 2023-23, the first time in the program’s history. The Hokies enjoyed eight consecutive winning seasons and Brooks compiled a 180-82 overall record with the program. After eight successful seasons with Virginia Tech, Brooks decided to join Kentucky on a five-year $7.7 million contract.
