As a freshman at Butler in the 2019-20 season, Battle competed in 24 games and bagged double figures in two games, recording a season-high 11 points in the season-opening win against IUPUI. He ended with scoring 10 points by winning over Southern, adding a season-high four rebounds.

In the following season at Temple, Battle registered 15.0 points per contest while leading the team in scoring and finished second on the team in rebounds at 6.4 per game. He was sidelined in the first five games because of a hamstring injury. He then bagged three double-doubles with 22 points and 11 rebounds against Tulsa, 32 points with 10 rebounds against South Florida, and 18 points and 10 rebounds in the AAC Tournament versus South Florida. Additionally, he registered a career-high 32 points against South Florida, including 10 rebounds for his second double-double, adding a career-high five assists in the season.

During his junior season in the year 2021-22, Battle’s name was listed in the AAC Player of the Week award due to his 29-point effort in the win versus Delaware. As a redshirt junior, Khalif was ranked 10th in the NCAA in free throw percentage and was positioned fourth in scoring in the AAC. In addition, he led the team in scoring, rebounding, and in assisting 15 times, five times, and three times, respectively. He was recognized as the American Athletic Conference and Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week and MVP of the Basketball Hall of Fame Showcase honor.
