Junior Kiki Rice delivered a standout performance as top-ranked UCLA defeated Hawaii 70-49 in the final game of the American Savings Bank Rainbow Wahine Showdown at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.

Rice showcased her versatility, shooting an impressive .700/.500/1.000 in the championship game. The point guard led all scorers with 21 points, adding two rebounds, two steals, an assist and a block in 30 minutes of play, despite committing four fouls.

She was dominant in the first half, scoring 14 points before the break. Rice finished the game 7-of-10 from the field, including two three-pointers, and a perfect 5-of-5 from the free-throw line.

She was the first Bruin to reach double figures, hitting a three-pointer for her fifth field goal of the night, and capped her scoring with two free throws late in the game.

Rice, who recently returned from a shoulder injury that sidelined her for the season’s first three games, contributed nine points in the second quarter to help maintain UCLA's momentum.

Through five games, she is averaging 10.6 points, 3.0 assists, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.4 steals while shooting 54.1% from the field (per FOX).

Bruins extend unbeaten streak with dominant performance

UCLA, favored by 33.5 points, improved to 8-0 with the win. The Bruins controlled all three games in Hawaii, never trailing and leading for all but 46 seconds, with an average margin of victory exceeding 45 points.

The Bruins took advantage of the absence of 6-foot-4 freshman center Ritorya Tamilo, who was averaging 10.8 points per game this season but was sidelined on Sunday. Tamilo, seen wearing an arm sling during pregame warm-ups, did not suit up, leaving Hawaii at a disadvantage.

Against Hawaii, UCLA capitalized in the paint, outscoring the Rainbow Wahine 40-14 in the post and holding a combined 146-26 advantage over their three opponents in that area. UCLA also dominated the glass, outrebounding Hawaii 44-26. The Rainbow Wahine struggled offensively, shooting just 14-of-53 from the field and 6-of-25 from beyond the arc.

Lauren Betts contributed 18 points for UCLA, though her streak of five consecutive double-doubles came to an end. Gabriela Jaquez added 11 points and seven rebounds to the Bruins' effort. On Hawaii's side, Lily Wahinekapu led the team with 10 points, but their five-game winning streak was snapped.

Looking ahead, UCLA continues its road stretch with a matchup against Washington on Saturday, marking its first Big Ten conference game. The Bruins lead the all-time series 40-33 and are riding a seven-game win streak against the Huskies.
