Kim Barnes Arico, born on August 9, 1970, is a female basketball coach at the collegiate level. She is the winningest coach in Michigan Wolverines’ history and signed a contract extension with the program in 2023. Her coaching journey began at Fairleigh Dickinson-Madison in 1996, where she spent only one year before moving to the New Jersey Institute of Technology for two full seasons. Her head coaching journey began in 2002 at St. John's University where she still holds the record for most wins in the program’s history.

Since 2002, Barnes Arico spent 10 years at the helm of the Red Storm and transformed it into a national power. She was honored with two Big East Coach of the Year awards and compiled a 176-134 record with St. John’s. Barnes Arico joined Michigan in 2012 and recorded a minimum of 20 wins during her first five wins with the program. She’s a two-time Big Ten Coach of the Year and took the Wolverines to newer heights since her arrival at Ann Harbour. Barnes Arico is the winningest coach in Michigan’s history with 261 wins and enters her 13th season as Michigan’s head coach in 2024-25.

Kim has two brothers, Chris and Bryan. Christopher was a standout athlete in basketball, baseball, and athletics. His heart stopped beating on July 14, 2003 and sustained several brain injuries since then. He passed away on May 12, 2019.

Kim’s other brother, Bryan is married and works as a custodian at Sachem North High School.
