Kyah Watson is a collegiate basketball guard for the West Virginia Mountaineers, as of January 2025. Kyah Watson spent two years on the South Dakota basketball team before transferring to West Virginia in 2022. Watson attended Rapid City Stevens High School where she was a volleyball player and ran track besides basketball. On the basketball court, she won three consecutive seasons of all-state accolades. During her senior year, she averaged 14 points, eight rebounds, and two assists per game. With 240 assists, Watson surpassed the career mark set by WNBA all-star Becky Hammon at Stevens High School. She made the South Dakota Class AA all-tournament team in 2019 and finished with 956 career points, 456 career rebounds, and 174 career steals. In addition to anchoring the Raiders' state championship 4x100-meter relay in 2017 and setting a then-state record of 48.38 seconds, she assisted the Raiders in winning the South Dakota state volleyball championship in 2019. In 2018, Kyah was honored with the Argus Leader Courage Award.

Kyah Watson made five starts as a freshman but was only able to play in nine games because of a midseason injury. She assisted the Coyotes in advancing to the NCAA Tournament and winning the Summit League Tournament. With 38 points, 29 rebounds, and 13 assists, Watson concluded her rookie season. Kyah participated in 34 of South Dakota's 35 games during the season as a redshirt freshman. In addition to finishing second on the team with 144 rebounds, Watson averaged 5.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. As a sophomore, Kyah Watson participated in and started all 31 games. She helped WVU qualify for the NCAA Tournament. She pulled down 5.1 rebounds per game and scored 226 points at an average of 7.3. Watson participated in and started all 33 games as a junior. She scored 265 points, averaging 8.0 points per game. She also led the club in rebounds, averaging 6.4 per game.
