Lamont Paris has been serving as the head coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks since the 2022/23 season. He has also served as the head coach of the Chattanooga Mocs from the 2017/18 season to 2021/22 season.

Hailing from Findlay, Ohio, United States, Lamont Paris started his career as a varsity basketball player at Findlay High School. He then played college basketball at College of Wooster, Ohio and served as the team captain in his junior and senior seasons.

Paris started his coaching career by being assistant coach for various college basketball teams like the DePauw Tigers (1999-2000), IUP Crimson Hawks (2001-04), Akron Zips (2005-10) and Wisconsin Badgers (2010-17). He started his head coaching career with the Chattanooga Mocs in 2017. He became the SoCon regular season Champion and SoCon Tournament Champion in 2022. He was also the SoCon Coach of the Year-Coaches in 2022.

Since becoming the head coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks in the 2022/23 season,. Lamont Paris was declared as the SEC Coach of the Year in 2024.

Lamont Paris has been the head coach of two different college basketball teams so far in his career. As the head coach of the Chattanooga Mocs, his win-loss record, according to Sports Reference, is 87-72.
