Lauren Betts' streak of five straight double-doubles ended on Sunday. It didn't matter as UCLA earned its eighth straight win with a 70-49 domination of hosts Hawaii on the third day of the Rainbow Wahine Showdown at the SimpliFi Arena in Honolulu.
The 6-foot-7 junior came up with 18 points, three rebounds, one assist, one steal and two blocks in 21 minutes for the Bruins, who improved to 8-0 overall. Betts shot 6 of 12 from the field and 6 of 8 from the free-throw line and the Cori Close-coached squad stormed to another lopsided win in the 2024-25 women's college basketball season.
The Stanford transfer scored eight points on two jumpers, a layup and two free throws to help UCLA grab an 18-7 advantage in the first quarter. Betts failed to score a point in the second period and the Bruins allowed the Rainbow Wahine to cut the deficit to 32-29 at the half.
The center chalked up four more points in the third quarter and provided the interior defense to help the Big Ten Conference team build a 56-39 spread after 30 minutes. Betts resumed her scoring spree in the fourth frame, putting up six points on a layup and four more free throws to give UCLA a 64-44 lead with 6:44 remaining.

Kiki Rice and Lauren Betts combined for 39 points, leading UCLA to a 70-49 victory over Hawaii on the third day of the Rainbow Wahine Showdown on Sunday.
Rice had her best game of the season, scoring 21 points on 7 of 10 shooting, including 2 of 4 from the 3-point line. She was also perfect from free throws, making all five attempts.
Betts added 18 points and was a steady force on the interior for UCLA, who gained 11 markers from Gabriela Jaquez. The Bruins shot 42.1% from the field, limiting the Rainbow Wahine to a measly 26.4% clip.
UCLA dominated the rebounding battle, 44-26, including 16 offensive rebounds. They also had 40 inside points and 19 points off Hawaii's 17 turnovers.
UCLA will have its first Big Ten Conference regular season game against Washington next Sunday at the Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle, Washington. The Huskies are coming off a 61-43 win over Southern on Nov. 27 in the Bahamas.
