With a new edition of the WNBA All-Star Game taking place on July 20 in Phoenix, the league opened fan voting on June 12 which would determine this year's roster.

Meanwhile, LSU Academic Center took to Instagram on Monday to ask fans to vote for their alumna Angel Reese.

"Need another reason to vote for Angel Reese in the WNBA All-Star Game? She's one of our June Student-Athletes of the Month!" wrote the LSU Academic Center.

The caption discussed her earlier struggles, which she spoke about in an interview with Dorothy J. Gentry.

"Just being able to be where I'm from. I'm from Baltimore. My mom is a single mom. Being able to raise two kids. I mean, I just graduated," Reese told Gentry. "My mom wouldn't have been able to pay for college for me and my brother without me being on athletic scholarships and academic scholarships. I'm blessed," Reese said.
She added, "My mom has no student loans, my brother's graduating in December. So being able to walk away from that, that's all I ever wanted in life. Me and my mom, we have a really close relationship. It's just me, my mom, and my brother, it has always been. That's my motivation."

The fan vote holds a 50% weight in deciding the WNBA All-Star roster. The rest will be a combination of votes from other WNBA players (25%) and the media (25%). The selected players will face the U.S. Olympic team.

Reese won the NCAA Women's Basketball championship in 2023 when the LSU Tigers beat Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes, 102-85. The Bayou Barbie left LSU for the WNBA and was selected by Chicago Sky with the No. 7 pick this year.

So far, she has played 15 games in the league where she averaged 13.2 points per game, contributed 11.1 rebounds, and made 2.1 assists while shooting 40.6% from the field.

As of June 22, the voting is led by A'ja Wilson and Clark, while Reese ranks seventh.

Clark and Reese are set to hit the court playing in the same team for the first time. All thanks to the All-Star game, hoops fans will witness the reunion of two college basketball rivals.

"A lot of hypotheticals. I think both of us would probably tell you our focus in on playing basketball, and if that works out for the both of us, great, that would be a lot of fun -- we've never played together," Clark told CBS Sports.

As the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA Draft, Clark has averaged 16.3 points per game for the Indiana Fever.
