Madeline Westbeld is a collegiate basketball forward for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) of the NCAA. Westbeld’s basketball journey began at her high school, Fairmont High School. During her senior year in 2020, she led her team in scoring, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks and a regional finals appearance. She was named the Gatorade Ohio Girls Basketball Player of the Year, McDonald’s All-American and OPSWA Division I Player of the Year in 2020. After being ranked the fifth best forward, Westbeld enrolled at Notre Dame in 2021.

During her freshman year in 2021, Westbeld was the only freshman player in the country to average at least 15 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists & 1.4 steals. She was named ACC Rookie of the Year, First-team All-ACC and WBCA All-America Regional Finalist honors. The following year, she made her NCAA debut and averaged 15 points and 7.3 rebounds and earned a spot on the Preseason All-ACC team. During her junior year in 2023, she averaged 27.5 minutes, 11.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists and was named to the Second-team All-ACC. The following year, Notre Dame was crowned as the 2024 ACC Tournament Champions and Westbeld made the First-team All-ACC Tournament as well as Second-team All-ACC.
