The NCAA Tournament, commonly known as March Madness, is a single-elimination tournament where participating men's and women's collegiate teams compete for the national title. In total, 68 teams participate in both the men's and women's tournament and the teams are further divided into four different regions comprising 16 to 18 teams.

Following the First Four stage of the tournament, four teams are eliminated and 64 teams qualify for the First Round. After the First Round, 32 teams book a spot in the Second Round. Subsequently, 16 teams book a place in the regional semi-final round of the NCAA Tournament, which is widely known as the Sweet 16.
