The University of Maryland men's basketball team is known as the Maryland Terrapins. They have made 30 appearances in the NCAA tournaments and achieved the national championship in 2002 under head coach, Gary Williams. He coached the Maryland basketball team from 1989 to 2011.

The Maryland Basketball team has been representing the University of Maryland in the Big-Ten Conference since 2014. Previously, Maryland was one of the founding members of the ACC and left the conference in 2014. The Maryland Terrapins men's basketball team also won the NIT championship in 1972. Since then, they have appeared in eight NIT championship games, as of January 2024.

Kevin Willard is the head coach of the Maryland Terrapins men's basketball team, as of November 2024. He joined the Maryland basketball team as a head coach in 2022. Before becoming a coach, Kevin was a former basketball player and played basketball at Western Kentucky during the 1992-1993 season. He then played for Pittsburgh from 1994 to 1997 and finished his playing career there.

Kevin started his coaching career as an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics basketball team, in 1997. He became the assistant coach at Louisville Cardinals men's basketball team in 2001. He later served as the head coach of the Iona Gaels men's basketball team from 2007 to 2010. Prior to joining Maryland, he was the head coach of Seton Hall Pirates men's basketball from 2010 to 2022.

Associate Head Coach

David Cox is the Associate Head Coach of the Maryland Terrapins men's basketball team, as of November 2024. He first joined the Maryland Terrapins as an assistant coach in 2022 and then his role was changed to Associate Head Coach in April 2023.

Prior to his time at Maryland, David Cox served as the head coach of the Rhode Island Rams basketball team from 2018 to 2022. He initially joined the Rhode Island men's basketball team as an assistant coach in 2014 and was later promoted to Head Coach in 2018.

However in March 2022, the Rhode Island Rams made the decision to terminate David Cox's contract after four seasons. This decision came after the team's loss of 64-59 to Richmond in the second round of the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament, as reported by ESPN.

Assistant Coach

Kevin Norris and Greg Manning Jr. are on the coaching staff of the Maryland Men's basketball team as assistant coaches. Head coach Kevin Willard announced that Kevin Norris would be joining the staff on April 5, 2023. Prior to his arrival at Maryland, Norris spent the last eight seasons as an assistant coach at UCF. He also made coaching stops at USC, FGCU, UNC Wilmington and Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

Greg Manning Jr. was named as an assistant coach for the Maryland basketball team in April 2023. Before joining the coaching staff, Manning served as the Director of Operations from 2021-2023 and as the video coordinator from 2018-2021 for the university.
