Mason Gillis is an American basketball power forward plying his trade with the Duke Blue Devils, as of 2024. He began playing high school basketball at the New Castle High School where he helped them secure a Class 3A Regional title during his junior season. As a junior, he averaged 21.6 points, 12.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. He missed his senior year due to a knee injury and concluded his prep career with New Castle. Gills embarked on his collegiate basketball journey with Purdue over offers from Boston College, Toledo, Indiana, Ohio State, and Wisconsin among others.
During the 2020-21 season, Gillis saw action in 28 games and averaged 5.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. The following year as a sophomore, Gillis appeared in all 33 games and averaged 6.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. After four seasons with the program, Gillis decided to enter the transfer portal and test the NBA Draft waters following the conclusion of the 2023-24 season. Last season, he was named the Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year for his spectacular season. In his four-year career with Purdue, Gillis averaged 6.3 points, 4.2 assists, and 1.4 assists per game in 132 total appearances. The veteran forward committed to Duke’s men's basketball as a graduate transfer.
