Matthew Curtis Painter has already proved his coaching skills with the Purdue Boilermakers throughout his 19 year career so far. A former college basketball player for the same team from 1989 to 1993, he has helped the team to gain many achievements in their existence so far.
Matt Painter hails from Fort Wayne, Indiana, United States. He started his head coaching career with the Southern Illinois Salukis in 2003 and has coached the team for only one season. However, he made the team the Missouri Valley Conference regular season Champion in 2004. He also became the MVC Coach of the Year in 2004.
Painter started his head coach career for the Purdue Boilermakers in 2005. Since then he has become a 5 time Big Ten regular season Champion. He is also a five-time Big Ten Coach of the Year. He was declared as AP Coach of the Year twice in his career so far. Furthermore, he was also the NABC Coach of the Year in 2019. He became an Indiana Basketball Hall of Famer in 2022.
