The Michigan Wolverines women’s basketball team represents the University of Michigan in collegiate basketball. The team competes in the Big Ten Conference and has been a member since the 1982/83 season.

She joined the Michigan program in 2012 after spending a decade with St. John's University as the head coach of the women’s varsity team. In her 12 seasons with the program, Kim Barnes Arico has guided the Wolverines to seven NCAA Tournament appearances and the 2017 WNIT Championship.

Michigan Women’s Basketball Assistant Coaches

Melanie Moore, Justine Raterman and Jillian Dunston are the assistant coaches of the Michigan Wolverines women’s basketball team. Melanie Moore returned to the Wolverines in 2023 after spending four seasons at Xavier as the head coach. She previously enjoyed seven seasons at Ann Harbour from 2012 to 2019.

Justine Raterman joined the Michigan staff as an assistant coach in the summer of 2024. She spent the last five seasons at Marquette serving as an assistant coach and associate head coach during her final season.

Jillian Dunston has entered her second year on Kim Barnes Arico’s coaching staff having joined the program in 2023. She was a four-year letterwinner with the Wolverines and spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Drexel.
