As a junior, James averaged 18.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, helping Oak Ridge reach the Class 7A state semifinals. During his junior season, he earned a spot in the All-State First Team and made it in the Orlando Sentinel All-Area team. James was also selected in the 7A State All-Tournament team.
