Mike James’ Parents

Mike James is a basketball guard for the NC State Wolfpack of the North Carolina State University. In February 2024, James declared his commitment to Wolfpack. He is the sixth former Cardinal to use the NCAA portal. Orlando, Florida native, went to Oak Ridge High School, graduating as a four-star recruit in 2021. He led Oak Ridge to a 23-3 record and the State 7A semifinals by averaging 19.4 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.2 blocked shots per game. He shot 58% from the field, including 44% from three points and 79% free throws.

James opted for the Louisville Cardinals over scholarship offers from Texas A&M, Arkansas, NC State, and Alabama. He joined Louisville prior to their 2021–22 season, but an Achilles injury sustained during the preseason forced him to miss the entire year. He was among the best freshmen in the ACC in his debut season in the 2023 season. He scored 10.1 points per game, which ranked him as Louisville's second-leading scorer among rookies in the conference. He also averaged 3.3 rebounds per game and shot 45.3% from the field, as per Sports Illustrated.
