UConn guard Ashlynn Shade has won the hearts of college basketball fans in the 2024-25 season, especially with her buzzer-beating 3-pointer in the second quarter of the Huskies' 86-49 win over South Florida on Sunday night.
Shade finished with 15 points, on 7-of-10 shooting from the field, two rebounds, one assist and two steals in 29 minutes.
The highlight was her catch-and-shoot triple in the second quarter that gave UConn a 43-25 lead and stole the show from Paige Bueckers, who led the team's offense with 22 points.
Shade's performance against South Florida followed up on her 10 points, three rebounds, three assists and six steals in the Huskies' 86-32 win over Boston University.
The consistent showing in the past two games won her the admiration of college basketball fans, who expressed love for the sophomore guard.
One fan showed the ultimate support for Shade, proclaiming her as G.O.A.T (greatest of all time).
"ASHLYNN SHADE THE WOMAN U ARE. THAT BUZZER BEATER 3?!? THATS MY MF GOAT YALL. MY MF GOAT. THE WORLD AINT READY FOR HER TO BE IN THE LEAGUE. SHES TOO INSANE," the user wrote on X.
Other fans were also surprised by the buzzer-beater and showered love for the UConn guard.
"ASHLYNN SHADE BUZZER BEATER OH MY GOSH," one fan added.
"SHADE WITH THE BUZZER BEATER THREE I LOVE YOU COUNTRY GIRLLL," the college basketball fan reacted.
"im so proud of her. and so amazed from the pass by sarah," a fan wrote.

"ashlynn shade my goat we are pouring all the honey in the world," a college hoops fan said.
One fan even used a short clip of Shade, who was seen smiling from ear to ear.

UConn senior Paige Bueckers was also happy with Ashlynn Shade's superb performance against South Florida, especially on the defensive end. She described the sophomore's improvements as a product of her hard work.
"If you watched the game, she did exactly all those things. So just to see her hard work all the time — Coach gets on her, I get on her — the whole team needs her to be like that on the defensive end. To see it was amazing. Super proud of her. That’s what we want Ashlynn to be every single night," Bueckers said.
In two games, Ashlynn Shade has averaged 12.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 4.0 steals per game. She shot 57.9%, including 38% from the free-throw line.
Shade has an opportunity to improve on her averages when No. 2 seed UConn faces No. 16 North Carolina on Friday night.
