In 2021–2022, Myles Rice redshirted his freshman year at WSU. Rice then missed the 2022–2023 season due to a medical redshirt while undergoing treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma. On March 9, 2023, he underwent his final chemotherapy treatment after winning the 2023 Black Student-Athlete Summit's Student-Athlete of the Year award.
