On3 released an updated top-150 basketball prospect rankings of the 2025 class on Tuesday, and Bryce James, LeBron James' son, is ranked 100th on the list. AJ Dybantsa topped the list while Cameron Boozer is second.

Bryce, who was previously ranked at No. 135, saw a steady rise following his performance at the Nike Peach Jam in July, moving 35 spots higher. The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 5.6 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks in five games for Team SFG in the competition.

However, college basketball fans were not pleased, with many criticizing the latest rankings.

"6 ppg and he’s now top 100? Man, the nepotism is getting worse," one fan commented on X.
"Nasty work," another fan wrote.
"100th is a consolation prize," another one added.

Some even argued that Bryce James does not measure up to his older brother, Bronny James.

"I thought alot of scouts were thinking he was gonna be better than bronny," one fan wrote.
"At least bronny had talent This skinny tall for nothing mf can’t even avg 10 ppg in his jv team or whatever tf he on," another fan said.

Meanwhile, others poked fun at Bronny, saying the Lakers will likely pursue Bryce as well, given his underwhelming stats.

"Oh great, here we go with this shit again. Just go ahead and put him on the lakers," one fan commented.

Basketball insider voice disagreement over Bryce James' ranking

Not only hoops fans, but also a basketball insider and analyst was quick to share his displeasure with Bryce James' ranking. Kevin Sweeney of Sports Illustrated took to X to express his dissatisfaction in a reply to George Michalowski, director of recruiting for MBB/WBB's post.

"Bryce James being a top-100 recruit is significantly worse than anything Bronny-related over the last two years," Sweeney tweeted.
"I've watched Bryce three different times in person. He is very far away from what Bronny was as a HS/AAU player. Worse defender, worse passer, averaged under 7 ppg on under 40% shooting on the EYBL circuit. Bronny averaged 12/5/4 and played a good floor game," Sweeney reasoned in the comments section.

Sweeney went on to say in another X post that while Bronny is good, he is not yet an NBA-level player. As for Bryce, he does not consider him a good player.
