The NCAA Tournament is a single-elimination tournament where 68 teams participate from both men's and women's teams. After the 2021 edition, the tournament was expanded to include 68 teams. The First Four was created to bring down the number of teams to 64. The First Four consists of eight teams, four from the lowest-seeded automatic qualifiers and four lowest-seeded at-large selections, as per the NCAA's official website.
