LSU Tigers star Flau'jae Johnson has had a busy offseason attending various social events. She was at the ESPYs and recently coached Team Flau'jae against Team Paige (UConn's Paige Bueckers) at the Overtime Select event in Atlanta, Georgia.
On Monday, the $1.2 million NIL-valued Johnson (as per On3) showed off her new acquisition, a vast piece of land. She posted a picture of herself signing the documents and a clip of the forested piece of land alongside her mother and agent, Kia Brooks, on Instagram.
The post was captioned:
"BLESSINGS BLESSINGS BLESSINGS 🙏✨Y’all I’m Only 20 Years Old And Just Closed On My First Piece Of Land 🏞️!!" she wrote. "WATCH WHAT I DO ❤️ I GOT ACRESSS BABYYYYY❤️ This Means So Much To Me Being A Young Black Woman Continuing To Beat The Odds!!

Flau'jae Johnson has her mom to thank for career
Flau'jae Johnson has become the de facto face of college basketball after the departure of former teammate Angel Reese and opponent Caitlin Clark to the WNBA.
Her NIL career flourished to no end after she helped lead the Tigers to the 2023 national championship win, and her mother, Kia Brooks, is the woman behind securing her daughter's financial future.
During an interview with Essence, Brooks revealed that she learned the managerial skills that she's using on her daughter's career from working in a dental office in Atlanta, Georgia. She even resigned from her job to become her daughter's full-time manager.
"I learned everything about this management process from working in a dental office, ironically,” Brooks said.
"I couldn’t make one of Flau’s games because I had to set up the dental office for the next day, but my doctor left and was like, ‘hey, I got to get to Jimmy’s game.’ And I was like, ‘dang. I’m really being left here so he can go watch his kids, but I can’t watch mine.'”
Brooks was the one who noticed her daughter's interest in music and nurtured it which led to Flau'jae appearing on "America's Got Talent" season 13 when she was 14, and in 2022, on "Raising a F***ing Star," which was negotiated by Brooks.
Flau'jae Johnson has flourished under the guidance of her mother, being signed to Jay Z's Roc Nation and signing lucrative NIL deals with Amazon, Puma and JBL.
Kia Brooks was also at the center of a scandal that gripped LSU last year when former Tigers star Angel Reese was absent from the team for four consecutive games, leading to speculation that she had been suspended.
During Reese's absence, Flau'jae Johnson was dragged into the scandal when Reese's mother publicly humiliated her with a social media post, prompting Johnson's mother to respond.
