It is turning out to be an exciting off-season for Flau'jae Johnson. The hooper is anticipating an album release on June 28 and was invited to the Sport Beach 2024 event in France to explore the intersection of culture, sports and creativity. Before returning to the States, Johnson was nominated for the Hustle Award by the NIL Store Awards.
The award honors players who elevate their stock through entrepreneurial endeavors. Johnson is the only female student-athlete nominated, alongside Gabe Cupps (Indiana men's basketball), Ty Rodgers (Illinois men's basketball) and Jake Kava (NDSU men's football).
Set to enter her junior year, Johnson has a promising future to grow her brand. Her current NIL deal value of $1.2 million ranks her 13th nationally among both male and female athletes, and this value is expected to increase.
Flau'Jae Johnson takes her NIL branding seriously
Apart from her upcoming album, Flau'jae Johnson will be a key player on LSU's roster for the 2024-25 season, especially with Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith no longer on the team.
Johnson has signed deals with The Athlete's Foot and Powerade. This is just the beginning of her plans. During her first year at LSU, she attracted many offers, including her first NIL deal with Puma in 2022.
Due to increased media and fan attention because of her multifaceted career, Johnson has hired a team of advisors to help build her brand. This team uses market trends, the athlete's performance metrics, and her brand impact to assess and negotiate opportunities on her behalf.
