Paige Bueckers sent her birthday greetings to her friend and former UConn student, Kayla Williams, on Friday. Sharing a collage of their photos, from graduation and more, the senior Huskies guard, whose On3 NIL valuation is $1.4 million, wrote:
"Happy birthday to my slimer. Love you. Thanks for being the best 🥰."
Per her LinkedIn, Williams attended the University of Connecticut from 2018 to 2022 and graduated with a bachelor's in Sport Management and Sports Communication. She is currently working as the ticket office assistant at the school.
Paige Bueckers continues her on- and off-court dominance
Paige Bueckers' previous four seasons with the Huskies were marred by injuries, either to herself or her team. After leading UConn to the Final Four last year with nearly half of the roster sidelined, Bueckers and the Huskies are back to claim their national championship this year.
Although they have lost two games against top-10 teams, Notre Dame and USC, Bueckers and her team are hopeful of a better run with the turn of the new year. The guard is averaging 20.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.0 steals. With this being her last chance to win a title, Bueckers is giving her all as she prepares for the WNBA next. She is predicted to go No. 1 in the draft this April.
While she still has a few months left in college, Paige Bueckers is already making moves to secure her professional future. In August, she became the first college athlete to sign a deal with Unrivaled, a professional 3x3 women's basketball league founded by UConn alum Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier.
The guard commented on her involvement in the league, saying:
"Just to be a part of something amazing like that, trying to get more eyes and use my platform to get people to watch, to tune in and continue to grow the game that way. I think it's going to be an amazing opportunity for women's basketball to continue to grow.
"It's an opportunity for them to play in the offseason, not have to go overseas, go to Miami, play some 3-on-3, have some fun," Bueckers said. "And also just getting more eyes and attention on women's basketball. And having these opportunities to continue to build a game is awesome."
Unrivaled is scheduled to tipoff on Jan. 17 and involves six clubs with 36 players, all having an equity stake in the teams.
