Paige Bueckers has performed at a high level as one of the best players in women's college basketball this season and has an NIL worth of $1.4 million per On3. She has led the Huskies to a 16-2 record this season.
During one of UConn's recent practice sessions, head coach Geno Auriemma was seen making an underhanded shot from beyond the 3-point arc. Bueckers shared the video posted by the Huskies on her Instagram story on Thursday and reacted to the video with two words.
"Quite sassy," Bueckers said.
How Paige Bueckers played in return from injury
Paige Bueckers made her return to the No. 6 Huskies lineup following a recent knee injury. She suffered a left knee sprain during UConn's 83-52 victory over Villanova on January 5 and was sidelined from the team's next two games against Xavier and Georgetown.
She returned in the Huskies' matchup against St. John's on Wednesday. UConn dominated en route to a 71-45 victory, as Bueckers finished with 12 points and five rebounds in 23 minutes of action.
“I’m feeling good," Bueckers said post game. I’m just glad to be back out there. Obviously, first game back from anything you just want to get your feet wet. Get the feel of playing basketball again, the physicality of it, the pace of it but feeling good."
The win improved UConn's record to 16-2, extending their win streak to six games. Their defense has limited opponents to 51.3 points and UConn is shooting 50.8% from the field and 31% from beyond the arc. They are winning contests by a margin of 27.2 points per game.
Paige Bueckers leads the way for the team with 19.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.1 steals per contest on shooting splits of 56% overall and 39.2% from downtown. Sarah Strong comes next with 16.6 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists, while Azzi Fudd averages 10.9 points and 2.1 rebounds.
The No. 6 Huskies will prepare for their next matchup, hosting the Seton Hall Pirates at the Harry Gampel Pavilion on Jan. 19 at 1 p.m. ET.
