Flau'Jae Johnson's mom, Kia Brooks, expressed her gratitude for the blessings of 2024 on Instagram on Thursday. The momager dropped a long post about how the year exceeded her expectations in every way.
"So I’m still trying to process the blessings of 2024, and yet we are already in the 8th day of 2025 and it’s off to a remarkable start. I can only anticipate what the future holds for my family and myself. To be transparent, the past year has exceeded my expectations in every way. My business, family, and opportunities have experienced unprecedented growth" she wrote.
"I’m deeply grateful to God for empowering me to navigate the challenges of motherhood and entrepreneurship. As I continue to manage and market my daughter’s talents , I’m proud to be a pioneer in this NIL journey, building a legacy for her and our family without the traditional big agency or a marketing team as of yet. This way those fees retain in the family, and I could also leverage the best deals and show my expertise to broker successful partnerships."
Johnson, who tops college women's basketball NIL valuation with $1.5 million (according to On3), hailed her mom's post in the comment section.
She wrote: "Big kia."
Johnson is one of the key players for the No. 6 LSU Tigers (17-0, 2-0 Southeastern Conference). Besides her play on the court, she signed lucrative deals with top brands like Puma and most recently became the second player to sign with Unrivaled.
In December, Forbes unveiled Johnson's name as part of its prestigious 30 Under 30 Class of 2025 list and estimated her net worth at $7.5 million.
Why Flau'Jae Johnson will not play in Unrivaled despite signing NIL deal with league
Flau'Jae Johnson is widely regarded as one of the next big stars in women’s professional basketball. Fans are eagerly awaiting the chance to see the LSU star participate in the Unrivaled League, which is set to begin its inaugural season on Jan. 17.
However, Johnson will not play in the league just yet due to one reason. According to NCAA eligibility rules, college players cannot participate in pro leagues. Under the rules, Johnson is eligible to play in the league and WNBA, but will not until her college career is over.
All the same, the 2024 All-SEC Tournament player, who is in her junior year with the Tigers can continue to take advantage of NIL deal with Unrivaled while playing college basketball.
Unrivaled was established to offer players a unique opportunity to earn money and refine their skills during the offseason.
